These stories and photographs reflect the voices of the Dene people who contributed their thoughts in words and pictures. There are lessons for all of us in these stories of quiet courage and dignity. Seeing the heroes around us enables us to discover the hero within ourselves.

Dene Heroes Volume 1

Dene Heroes of the Sahtu, Volume 1 (2017)

This book, written by Dene youth, celebrates and communicates the accomplishments of Dene people.  It is the first in a series that will stretch far into the future, connecting generations and creating a lasting legacy.

The initiative is community-driven and supported by the schools, band leaders and land corporations.

All the authors, artists and photographers who contributed to the book received two books at a joyful community celebration and book launch in Fort Good Hope and Colville Lake in January, 2017.
