The Story

This web site is a work in progress and will continue to change as it is updated. The purpose is to share ideas and information widely. I hope you will find something of value as you browse around the site.

Over the past forty-five years I have taught more than 15,000 learners from kindergarten to university to workplace professionals. During that time, I have designed countless lesson plans, unit outlines, learning activities and assessment tools. Along with instructional preparation and delivery, I also developed strategies to cope with the inevitable classroom crises, nurture students and bring out the best in the people entrusted to my care. I spent long hours before and after class, supervising dances and musicals, coaching various sports, counseling learners informally, marking papers, reporting on student progress, conferring with colleagues and preparing lessons. And I have loved every minute of it. I am grateful to every one of those 15,000 learners; each individual has touched my heart and soul in a unique way.

I am also the mother of four, grandmother of two and auntie to more than fifty nieces and nephews, each of whom has unique strengths, idiosyncrasies and challenges. Many northern friends call me auntie, granny or sister. These perspective challenge me to grow personally and professionally.

My learning journey now reaches the Sahtu Region of the Northwest Territories, where I assist remote Indigenous communities with educational, economic, community, and cultural revitalization projects,  capacity building and other initiatives identified by leaders and community members.

I dedicate this web site to learners of all ages — may you enjoy the challenges life throws at you, and may you inspire others every day!
